It has been a long dirge since the pandemic outbreak. Sadness stares at us as though it is the only feeling we can ever have. And it doesn’t seem the normal life we enjoyed or took for granted will come back soon. In the thicket of this, we are besieged by an up surging existential phenomenon – depression, insecurity, desperation, uncertainty, death, kidnapping, job loss and continuous rise in food prices and starvation.
Yet, we are here to make life liveable. And we believe in the power of the art as a tool for exploring and making sense of the times: how can we heal? How can we be kinder to the world and ourselves? How do we find our humanities again? How do we care for our country and its citizens? Are there solutions?
In that vein, for her second anniversary celebration, Ayamba LitCast invites writers from across the world to submit essays on the theme of REBIRTH. We want compelling pieces that not only excite but enable us to navigate the life before us. Entertain us, make us laugh, cry. We want your essay to jump out of the pages and confront us. In spite of our despair, we want works that make us affirm life.
